Open day

September 14, 2024, 10.00 am - 5.00 pm

Dübendorf, Empa-Eawag Campus

Everyone knows it, everyone needs it every day to live. However, very few people know what water is really all about. Take a look behind the scenes at Eawag - one of the world's leading water research institutes. As part of the joint Empa-Eawag Campus in Dübendorf, Eawag opens its doors and shows exciting and unexpected things about water.

Water bodies are among the most species-rich habitats and water is one of our most important resources. And in both areas we face demanding and diverse challenges, which Eawag is researching. How will we still have enough clean water and liveable cities in the future if heat and drought increase with climate change? What exactly lives in our waters and how can we save these animals and plants from extinction? What can we do to protect ourselves from flooding if heavy rainfall events increase? Can we improve the purification of our wastewater so that people and the environment remain healthy and how can we recover the valuable ingredients from wastewater at the same time? And how can wastewater be monitored so that it protects us from diseases?

Visit us on 14 September 2024 from 10:00 to 17:00 on the Empa-Eawag campus and learn more first-hand about how Eawag's research is helping to find answers to these questions and expand our knowledge.
