About Me
Hello!
My name is Jahmaira, and I am a biologist with a background in computational science. My primary interest lies in understanding the interactions and co-evolution of complex systems, particularly social-ecological systems. To explore these dynamics, I use network analysis, focusing on multi-level networks while integrating both descriptive and statistical approaches. Additionally, I am interested in science communication, seeking to learn new strategies to bridge the gaps between scientific research, practical application, and society.
In October 2023, I completed my Master’s in Computational Science at Università della Svizzera Italiana (USI). Since April 2024, I have been part of the LANAT-3 project, an interdisciplinary initiative financed by the Wyss Academy, the Canton of Bern, and the Federal Office for the Environment. This project, which involves scientists from the University of Bern, Eawag, and the Swiss Competence Centre for Fisheries (SKF), aims to address the urgent issue of biodiversity loss in Switzerland's waterbodies. Together with my supervisors, Manuel Fischer and Karin Ingold, we aim to integrate the ecological knowledge generated by AI models developed by our fish ecologist colleagues with the social data we and SKF have gathered—and will continue to gather—into a comprehensive social-ecological network analysis. This analysis will help us identify structural gaps and help optimize resource allocation practices.
