About Me

After completing my disciplinary studies in Sociology and Political Science (BA’s at University of Vienna/Austria) and my interdisciplinary studies in Social-Ecological Economics and Policy (MSc. at Vienna University of Economics and Business/Austria), I acquired both theoretical and practical hands-on knowledge in inter- and transdisciplinary (ITD) research in different socio-economic contexts (Costa Rica, Germany, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Switzerland).

I joined Eawag and the ITD research group (ESS department) in 2019 in the realm of the Eawag-internal ITD research program Wings, where my main tasks involved not only studying integration across different disciplines, and across science, policy and practice, but also advancing it on a daily basis (project Integrate). In 2024, I completed my PhD entitled “Practicing integration in inter- and transdisciplinary research: The role of enabling conditions and integrative leadership” at ETH Zurich, where I studied and accompanied three different large ITD programs in Switzerland.

I am currently a PostDoc in the project INSIGHTS in the ITD research group, studying and accompanying the four ITD ‘Joint Initiatives’ of the ETH Domain in the strategic area ‘Engagement and Dialogue with Society’. My research interests are inter- and transdisciplinary research in general and integration in particular (success conditions, leadership strategies, and process design), sustainability transformations (actionable and how-to knowledge, science-policy-practice interface), and philosophy of science (in particular Critical Realism). I mainly conduct qualitative research and developed expertise in accompanying research design throughout the last five years. I am strongly interested in working with colleagues from other disciplines and actors from different societal sectors on the topic of sustainability transformations and related aspects.
