MAJOR RESEARCH AREAS

Development and evaluation of practice orientated solutions and new processes for wastewater and sludge treatment on WWTPs in full and pilotscale scale:

• Development and application of technologies and processes for micro pollutant removal like activated cabon and ozone treatment: applications, design of novel PAC applications and GAC-filtration technologies, control strategies of O3-dosage by absorbance, biological post treatment after ozonation, combined application of ozone and activated carbon

• recovery of nutrients and energy from wastewater, urine and sewage sludge: full scale recovery of nitrogene and phosphorous e.g. air- and membrane stripping, struvite precipitation

• sewage sludge treatment: novel approches of sludge processing like advanced dewatering, disintegration, thermophilic hydrolysis of sewage sludge

• nutrient elimination at WWTPs, conventional activated sludge, MBR and SBR technology, activated sludge modelling
