About Me

As a trained landscape planner, I have an interdisciplinary background to develop a comprehensive understanding of rive processes.

During my PhD at University of Lausanne (research group Stuart Lane), I looked at the interactions between the abiotic and the biotic environment in dynamic braided river systems. Particularly, I focused on how soil formation and groundwater modulates the feedbacks between riparian vegetation (stabilization) and river morphodynamics (destabilization) and how these affects river morphodynamics over decadal time scale.

Since 2017, I shifted my attention to the interactions between the abiotic and the biotic environment in hydropeaking river systems. As a project scientist at Eawag, I’m working in close collaboration with the federal authorities, hydropower operators and researchers to improve our knowledge on the impacts of hydropeaking on river ecosystems and how to potentially mitigate these effects.Together with Christine Weber, and in close exchange with the  Federal Office for the Environment and Water Agenda 21, we link research with practice and address open research questions related to hydropeaking mitigation. The project has been prolonged till 2026.
