About Me
I am an organic geochemist with a particular interest in understanding how microbial biogeochemistry and past changes in the environment and climate have shaped aquatic systems. Organisms leave behind molecular fossils (also known as lipid biomarkers) that can be preserved in geologic records. Lipid biomarkers are powerful tools that can tell us about past environmental and climate conditions, track human activities, and give us insights into biogeochemical processes. My current research focuses on (1) identifying new lipid biomarkers to study past changes in biogeochemical processes, such as methane-oxidation, in aquatic systems and (2) applying biomarkers to paleo-records to study past changes in climate and the environment.
