About Me
I am a geochemist broadly interested in how both natural and human activities influence organic compounds in the environment. I use the tools of organic geochemistry and stable isotope geochemistry to investigate the ways information about the past is recorded in sediments.
Specifically, I investigate how environmental stresses, such as salinity and nutrient limitation, affect stable isotope fractionation during the formation of lipids by plants. Lipids are well preserved in sediment on geologic timescales, and understanding the parameters that influence their isotopic composition unlocks valuable information about past environments.
