About Me

I am fascinated by rivers and the processes that shape biodiversity, and in particular how these are  adapting to climate change. As a freshwater ecologist for the UK government, I have spent many years using traditional morphological techniques to assess the diversity of plants, algae, macroinvertebrates and assessing river habitats. Now, my research aims to apply rapidly developing molecular tools, such as environmental DNA (eDNA), to study biodiversity at a catchment scale. My focus is on disentangling the impacts of factors like changing flow regimes on species distribution, community interactions and ecosystem function.
