Methanogenesis (dependence on organic material origin)
Our interest is to understand the formation of methane in relation to the origin of the organic material.
We will investigate sediments of lakes with a different contribution of allochthonous (terrestrial derived) and autochthonous (aquatically derived) organic material. Additionally we will use experiments with labelled OM to understand which material is transformed to methane.
