Our Mission
PollutionKeeper is dedicated to advancing real-time monitoring and pollution control in urban wastewater systems. We leverage cutting-edge data science, environmental sensors, and machine learning to provide cities, researchers, and policymakers with actionable insights into pollution patterns. Our goal is to foster cleaner, healthier urban environments and to empower communities with information that supports sustainable decisions. PollutionKeeper is funded by Innosuisse, the Swiss innovation agency, and is a collaboration between Photrack AG, Eawag, CSEM, AV Altenrhein and ERZ.
By providing a continuous, real-time pollution monitoring system, PollutionKeeper opens the door for enhanced management of wastewater systems, protecting public and environmental health and improving urban quality of life.
Key Features
Non-contact real-time pollution monitoring:
The PollutionKeeper system provides continuous non-contact predictions of wastewater pollution levels, providing insights into pollution trends and acute pollution events. Current state-of-the-art solutions for continuous wastewater monitoring rely on sampling or immersed sensors. PollutionKeeper aims to provide the same level of predictive accuracy without the need for excessive sensor cleaning and maintenance.
Predictive Analytics:
Machine learning models trained on extensive datasets of wastewater pollution analyze the recorded images and predict concentrations for a range of relevant wastewater pollutants. Reliable, high-frequency pollutant concentration predictions allow operators of wastewater systems to take proactive measures to manage their systems in a way that minimizes harmful emissions to water bodies.
Hardware Integration:
PollutionKeeper connects unique custom-made multi-spectral imaging hardware with state-of-the-art image processing and machine learning algorithms.
Actionable Insights:
We transform complex data into clear, easy-to-understand insights that wastewater system operators can use to make informed decisions to improve the management of their systems.
