EPP Fellowship
Scope, application process and selection criteria
Eligible are PhD or Masters students, enrolled at a non-OECD country academic institution working on environmentally, technically and/or socially relevant topics related to water issues.
The fellowship grant includes
a) International round trip flight;
b) Eawag guest house stay or equivalent;
c) public transport ticket for Zürich;
d) daily allowance.
Prior to submission the applicant has to identify an Eawag Group Leader who agrees to act as the Eawag host, supervisor and mentor.
Applications can be submitted online in French or English. There are two annual application deadlines: 01 March and 01 September: "Apply here".
The application package comprises:
- Online completed application form
- Project application proposal of maximum 2 pages (minimum font size 11) as PDF, with the following subchapters:
a) Overall project research questions and methodology
b) Development, environmental, technical and/or societal relevance of the project for the home country
c) Specific objectives and outputs envisaged for the fellowship and how this ties into the project as a whole
d) Relevance of being hosted at Eawag to achieve these objectives
e) Relevance of this fellowship to advance my career
f) A statement by the Eawag host mentor endorsing the application and agreeing to supervise this fellowship - Two page CV as PDF including key publications
After submission, the application will be evaluated by the EPP Selection Committee through a competitive selection process. Selection criteria are:
- The scientific quality of the “overall” proposed project
- The objectives and outputs envisaged for the duration of the fellowship at Eawag and their achievability
- The relevance of being hosted at Eawag to achieve the objectives as stated for the fellowship
- The development, environmental, technical and/or societal relevance of the project objectives for the home country
- The relevance of this fellowship to advance the career of the applicant
- Endorsement priority by the Eawag host mentor
