SANIHUB: The Humanitarian Sanitation Knowledge Hub

The SANIHUB is a new structured knowledge and exchange platform designed to centralise global expertise on sanitation in humanitarian contexts. Serving as a comprehensive first point of reference, it provides a constantly updated resource for those involved in planning and implementing sanitation interventions during crises. In particular, it functions as a repository for the growing experience in the field of faecal sludge management (FSM) in humanitarian contexts. The platform offers not only access to critical information but also remote, personalized support for humanitarian WASH practitioners and local/national clusters through a helpdesk, supported by the Global WASH Cluster (GWC).

Initiated by the FSM Technical Working Group of the Global WASH Cluster, the project is implemented by a consortium of partners, including GTO, BORDA, CAWST, Eawag, IHE Delft, the Netherlands Red Cross, and Solidarités International, over a three-year period (2021 – 2024). The overarching goal is to ensure that practitioners working for crisis-affected populations have access to the information that enable them to provide safe, adequate, and affordable sanitation and FSM services, enhancing both public health and dignity in humanitarian settings.
