A small delegation of the Environmental Toxicology Department attended the 12th World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences at Niagara Falls, Canada at the end of August.

Department head Kristin Schirmer, Group leader Ksenia Groh, and PostDoc Christoph Schür traveled to Niagara Falls, Canada, to attend the 12th 12th World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences. With a total of five talks and one poster they showcased the work Utox is doing to reduce or replace animal tests. The field of ecotoxicology is traditionally not the main focus at the World Congress, where animal alternatives from organoids to artificial intelligence were presented. Therefore, it was particularly enriching for Kristin and Ksenia to co-chair two sessions focused on different aspects of the integration of animal alternatives in ecotoxicology.
