For the EcotoxicoMic 2024, Sarah Descloux received the poster prize for her work titled “Benthic diatoms as indicators for pesticide pollution in Swiss watercourses”. The work highlights the use of benthic diatom community composition, identified through molecular and morphological techniques, to identify tolerant or sensitive species to pesticide pollution.

At this year’s SST Annual Meeting, held in Basel on 14th November 2024, Jenny Maner was awarded a prize for the best poster with oral presentation for her contribution entitled “Real-time chemical toxicity and water quality monitoring with fish cell lines”. The presentation showcased the RAINBOWflow CHIP project, which aims to develop a biosensor to detect toxic effects of chemicals by impedance sensing using cell lines from the rainbow trout.
