Über mich

Christian Binz ist ein Gruppenleiter in der Gruppe für Nachhaltigkeitstransitionen und Innovationsstudien (CIRUS) im Departement für Umweltsozialwissenschaften an der Eawag, assoziierter Wissenschaftler bei CIRCLE, and der Lund Universität in Schweden, sowie Gastdozent an der Universität Zürich.


Er bestand sein Doktorat in Wirtshaftsgeographie im Jahr 2012 an der Universität Bern. Christian erhielt ein 'Post-doctoral Research Fellowship in Sustainability Science' von der Harvard Kennedy School of Government und hat als Post-Doktorand an der Universität Lund (Schweden), der UC Berkeley (USA), der Tsinghua University (China) und an der Eawag gearbeitet.

Sein Forschungsinteresse fokussiert auf die Entstehung und Sklaierung von 'grüner' Innovation, sowie transformativen Wandel im Wasser- Energie-, Transport-, oder Bausektor. Durch eine neue Kombination von Einsichten aus der Wirtschaftsgeographie, Transitionsstudien und der Nachhaltigkeitsforschung analysiert er, wie multi-skalare Netzwerke und Institutionen radikale Innovationen in Cleantechsektoren und Nachhaltigkeitstransitionen beeinflussen. Er hat breite Expertise in der Durchführung und Leitung von interdisziplinären Forschungsprojekten in Industrie- (EU, USA, Schweiz) und Schwellenländern (China, Indien).

GLORIWA untersucht die bestehende Pfadabhängigkeiten in der urbanen Wasserwirtschaft, indem wir die Struktur der wichtigsten globalen Akteursnetzwerke sowie deren umgebenden institutionellen Rahmen untersuchen
The Lighthouse Project focuses on visible examples of onsite and decentralised urban water management systems, which will play a key role in enabling sustainability transitions.
